Our first stop was Alyeska, in the town of Girgwood. It is located about an hour south of Anchorage, and where the road to Seward starts.
We stayed for a couple of days at the Alyeska resort, a small but fun resort, located in the Chugach Mountains, Anchorage’s immense backyard.
As Alyeska it’s a small resort, we just hang there for 2 days, riding during the mornings and touristing the closeby scenes on the afternoon.
The town of Girgwood is nowhere in sight, the reason is that the town was damaged but the 1964 earthquake and tidal wave, and its citizens rebuild it 2 miles up the Alyeska Highway.
Close by, its also located the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, a conservation center dedicated to preserving Alaska’s wildlife.
